Ian Machado Garry made sure to let Michael Morales know he's aware of the trash talk.
Morales (19-0 MMA, 7-0 UFC) was previously asked by Full Violence if there's anyone he doesn't like in the division and he didn't hesitate to say Machado Garry (17-2 MMA, 10-2 UFC), before flipping him off and saying he talks too much.
Morales was in attendance for Machado Garry's title loss to welterweight champion Islam Makhachev (29-1 MMA, 18-1 UFC) in Saturday's UFC 330 headliner at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia. Machado Garry had some words for Morales when he ran into him backstage after the fight.
"All the sh*t you talk, it's OK, make sure you back it up," Machado Garry said (h/t Full Send MMA). "I don't know whatever story you made up about meeting me. I've never encountered that sort – you know that, right? Listen, you're a good fighter. Show up, keep winning, and you can do anything. Does that make sense? You've got massive fights in this division. You've got me, you've got (Carlos) Prates, you've got Islam.
"Show up and fight. Does that make sense? You're an animal. You're strong. I don't know about any story where I've met you and I've talked sh*t to you. In this sport, people talk sh*t. I ignore it. You're a good fighter. You're young, you're strong (mentally), and that means you can do anything. Spread good, do good. You knock people out, you beat people up – that's what gets respect."
Morales hasn't competed since finishing Sean Brady by Round 1 TKO at UFC 322 last November. The undefeated 27-year-old weighed in as the official backup for Makhachev vs. Machado Garry, but his services weren't needed.
