Chris Citowicki's tenure as head soccer coach at Washington State University did not get off to a strong start as the Cougs were punched in the mouth by three early Idaho goals in a stunning 3-0 Vandal victory on opening night.

Idaho head coach Jeremy Clevenger welcomed his first child prior to the match and seemed to provide his team with energy as the Vandals jumped out to a breathtaking start.

Less than two minutes in, a cross into the box was fumbled by sure-handed WSU goalkeeper Ashlyn Dvorak and spilled onto the boot of Calli Chiarelli, who slid home the opening goal to give Idaho a 1-0 lead.

Less than three minutes later, the Vandals lifted a cross into the box, which Hallie Prinos-Grumbach headed into the back of the net. The goal was originally disallowed for offsides, but upon further review, the goal was given and Idaho took a 2-0 lead.

Then in the tenth minute, Alyssa Hamilton would stick the dagger into the shell-shocked Cougs with another header off of a long ball into the box to give Idaho a 3-0 lead.

The Cougs were never able to recover from the early onslaught and Idaho improves to 1-0-0 on the season.
