United States President Donald Trump continued the nation’s celebration of the country’s 250th birthday on Sunday with the Freedom 250 Grand Prix, which took place on the streets of Washington, DC, and utilized a 1.7-mile street circuit, incorporating part of Pennsylvania Avenue, taking racers past iconic Washington landmarks, including the US Capitol Building.
“President Trump is ensuring America gets the spectacular birthday it deserves as we celebrate our 250th anniversary,” White House spokesman Davis Ingle said leading up to the event. “The historic IndyCar race set to take place in our Nation’s Capital will be one of the greatest and most iconic races in history.”
It wasn’t Trump’s first sporting event thrown in celebration of America’s 250th. Earlier this summer, the UFC held the Freedom 250, an entire fight card that took place on the White House’s South Lawn. The President also, somewhat foolhardily, ended up playing an oversized role in the USMNT’s World Cup run this summer.
All of these contributed to Fox Sports dubbing Trump the “Sports President” and posting a montage of his appearances at sporting events on X.

What Fox Sports may not have been prepared for, however, is the intense backlash the video would receive.
“2.7M followers and your lazy, bootlicking content (which is seemingly tied to nothing relevant and for no reason) can’t even get 2,000 likes from an audience that worships the ground the pedo walks on. Deeply embarrassing,” digital consultant B.W. Carlin posted on X.
“There’s something incredibly selfish about a president attending all these games knowing the cost of all that travel and security ultimately falls on the taxpayers,” another person added.
“I mean, this is just straight government propaganda from a ‘sports channel,'” someone else added.
Ultimately, what most Americans want is clearly a President who focuses on improving the lives of his constituents rather than making a spectacle at sporting events. Hopefully, Trump realizes before his term ends.
