The first Test match is scheduled to take place in Galle, starting on August 15, followed by the second Test at the SSC in Colombo from August 23. Sarfaraz Khan, who has previously played six Tests for India, is expected to join the team shortly before their departure to Galle. His last appearance for India was during the home Test series against New Zealand in 2024, where he made a notable impact.
As the team management considers their options, Sarfaraz could slot in at No. 6, potentially replacing Dhruv Jurel, who has struggled for form. Sarfaraz has demonstrated his capability at this position, having scored two fifties in six innings while batting at No. 6 in the past.
