Indiana High School Football: No. 1 Brownsburg off to emphatic 2-0 start

Through two weeks, there’s been a clear-cut No. 1 high school football team in the state of Indiana. Brownsburg has won back-to-back 6A state titles and it looks poised to make it three in a row later this year.

The Bulldogs are off to an emphatic 2-0 start, picking up wins over Lawrence North (Ind.) and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Ga.). They hosted the Eagles from the Peach State on Friday night and claimed a 31-15 victory.

In that game, Brownsburg senior quarterback Oscar Frye threw for three touchdowns, giving him 59 for his career, making him the school’s all-time passing TD leader. He finished with over 200 yards through the air and has now thrown six touchdowns in two games as a senior.

“Grateful to reach another milestone in a Bulldog uniform,” Frye wrote on social media acknowledging the record. “Couldn’t do it without my teammates, coaches and especially the guys up front. Still a lot of football ahead.”

Frye has some pretty good weapons at his disposal. It starts with senior wide receiver Branden Sharpe, a three-star prospect committed to the Indiana Hoosiers. In that season-opening 48-25 win at Lawrence North, all eyes were on the Wildcats’ star senior WR and fellow IU pledge, Monshun Sales, a Five-Star Plus+ prospect.

The Brownsburg defense kept Sales in check while Sharpe finished with multiple touchdowns. He’s ranked as the No. 11 senior prospect in Indiana, but that could change by the time he signs to play for Curt Cignetti and Co.

Running back Brady Lewis led the Bulldogs’ charge alongside Frye with 225 yards and multiple scores on the ground. This is an offense that also features senior three-star tight end Leo McQuillan, a Bowling Green commit, and senior three-star offensive lineman Nick Vecrumba, a Kansas commit.

It’s easily one of, if not the top roster in Indiana high school football. After defeating Rabun Gap, Brownsburg now ranks as the No. 20 team in the nation and No. 1 in Indiana, according to the Rivals Composite Rankings.

The remaining schedule is tough on paper, but it remains to be seen if the Bulldogs will be properly challenged moving forward. There’s still six games against other current top-25 teams in the state to played, including No. 5 Avon on Sept. 11 and No. 2 Westfield on Sept. 25 — both of which will be at home.

Brownsburg has now won 21 games in a row. It heads to No. 20 Franklin Central this Friday, Sept. 4. The Massey Ratings predict another undefeated season for longtime head coach John Hart and the Bulldogs. It’s hard to disagree after their first two performances of the 2026 campaign.
