Injury update: Jets take Joseph Ossai off PUP list, add to roster

Joseph Ossai is now available for the New York Jets.

Ossai was placed on the team's physically unable to perform (PUP) list at the start of 2026 NFL training camp. This team has announced this week that the 26-year-old has been removed from the injury designation and has been placed on the active roster:

A player ends up on the PUP list if he is not able to practice the first day of training camp due to a football related injury. He can come off the list at any point in camp once he is ready to practice.

There was no further detail provided on Ossai's injury at the time, but he is evidently healthy enough to return. Ossai will add a veteran presence to the Jets' edge alongside first-round rookie David Bailey and Will McDonald.

During the first four years in the NFL, Ossai recorded 116 tackles and 14.5 sacks in 61 games played. Ossai had five sacks in each of the past two seasons, respectively.

Formerly of the Cincinnati Bengals, Ossai signed a one-year deal in New York during free agency.
