Bayern Munich and Google are strengthening their partnership, but do not expect the tech giant to suddenly join Telekom, Adidas, Allianz, and Audi as one of the club’s four main partners.
Google is currently a Platinum Partner, one sponsorship tier below Bayern Munich’s aforementioned four primary partners. The club’s other Platinum Partners include Betano, Bitpanda, Coca-Cola, Drutex, EA Sports, Einhell, Emirates, Paulaner, SAP, Schwarz digits, and Viessmann.
According to Bild, Google is paying more than €10 million per year for its sponsorship, making the partnership a significant commercial relationship for Bayern Munich. For now, however, there are no plans for Google to increase its involvement beyond its current level.
The partnership is still expanding in an interesting way. Google is becoming Bayern Munich’s official “Consumer AI Partner” through Gemini, while Google Pixel will become the official smartphone partner of both the men’s and women’s teams.
Alas, Bayern Munich’s stars are not being forced to ditch their iPhones. Players are free to continue using iPhones or other devices despite the Google Pixel partnership.
So, while Google is becoming increasingly visible around Bayern Munich, it appears the club is not quite ready to make the tech giant one of its commercial heavyweights.
