Inter Milan are set to step up their interest in signing Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.
The Italian champions haveexpressed public interest in signing Jones and are preparing an offer to sign the 25-year-old.
Inter are nearing an agreement to loan David Frattesi to Lazio, with a conditional obligation to buy, in a transfer that will free room to pursue Jones.
The England international has less than 12 months remaining on his Liverpool contract and is open to an exit in search of regular football. Earlier this year, Liverpool teammate Federico Chiesa revealed that Jones had asked him about life in Italy.
Jones started only 18 games in thePremier League last season, with the bulk of those minutes coming out-of-position at right-back. He is yet to start more than 20 games in a Premier League season for the Reds.
According toSky Italy, Inter are ready to move for Jones, who has been a leading transfer target throughout the summer. There has been a gap in valuation between the two clubs, though Inter are hopeful of reaching an agreement.
Liverpool are understood to value Jones at more than £35m, despite his expiring deal. The Reds are reluctant to lose Jones amid homegrown quota issues but accept his situation.
Inter are also proceeding in negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur to sign Djed Spence. A transfer fee of around £30m has been discussed for the England defender.
