Ipswich Town have completed the signing of Paraguay international Julio Enciso from Strasbourg, bringing the 22-year-old back to Portman Road on a permanent deal.
Enciso has signed a five-year contract with the newly promoted Premier League side, with the transfer fee reported to be around £25 million (€30m). The move comes just over a year after he spent six months on loan at Ipswich from Brighton, where he made a strong impression despite the club’s eventual relegation.
The forward has since joined Strasbourg, where he worked under Gary O’Neil and impressed enough for the Ipswich boss to push for a reunion in England.
Enciso, who represented Paraguay at the recent World Cup, gives O’Neil another versatile attacking option and can operate as a winger, attacking midfielder or second striker.
His arrival was announced shortly after Ipswich confirmed the signing of Strasbourg midfielder Abdoul Ouattara, with O’Neil effectively raiding his former club twice.
