Is Freddie Freeman OK after scary dugout fall?

Freddie Freeman gave Los Angeles Dodgers fans quite the scare during Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Kansas City Royals. The star first baseman crept over to the Royals dugout to go after a pop foul in the eighth inning, but he lost track of his positioning and tumbled down the stairs.

The Royals dugout immediately attended to Freeman before Dodgers medical personnel could make their way out there. Freeman eventually rose to his feet and walked back to first base under his own power, drawing applause from the Dodgers faithful. He initially stayed in the game but utility man Tommy Edman pinch-hit for him in the bottom of the inning.

While the fall was terrifying, it doesn't appear as if it'll affect Freeman longterm.

"I think that we really dodged a bullet," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said, per the Associated Press. "Very scary visually. For right now, he's in good spirits, which I think is a good sign. Just kind of total body soreness."

Freeman spoke postgame of soreness in his kneecaps, shoulder, hand and wrist, but noted he's in good spirits. It's unclear if he'll play today against the Milwaukee Brewers, but the absence won't be long if there is one.

A 10-time All-Star and 2020 National League MVP, Freeman is batting .306/.380/.472 with 15 home runs and 57 RBI this season. He's day-to-day and will likely return at some point during the Brewers series.
