The New York Giants found their franchise quarterback last season in Jaxson Dart. Dart dealt with injury concerns in 2025 and is looking to enter the 2026 season with a chip on his shoulder. Dart played in the preseason opener and was taken to the medical tent for a concussion check after being hit.
Dart has often been flagged for blue tent visits despite being fine, and Giants insider Art Stapleton detailed the potential reputation he might now have.
Giants Insider Explains Potential Unfair ‘Tag’ for Jaxson DartDart dealt with numerous blue tent visits for concussion checks last season, despite none of them actually resulting in a concussion. Uniquely, the concussion that he suffered in his rookie season was not detected in a blue tent visit. It’s already started again for Dart, who was forced into the tent after RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. missed a block and allowed a free rusher to clobber Dart.
Because of the hit, Dart was forced into a concussion check, which he has become frustrated with the frequency of. He has been to the medical tent in 43% of his NFL games (including preseason), although not all for head injuries. Stapleton warned Dart that he might have a reputation that would require him to be continuously checked after big hits just to be safe.
“It’s a slippery slope here now, and Jaxson Dart now has this tag. I don’t know how fair it is, but I think you can understand why they want to be more cautious than anything else,” said Stapleton.
The Giants weren’t too happy with Dart having to be taken out because the hit didn’t look like it warranted Dart to be examined. He passed, like he usually does, and came back out on the field to deliver a dime for a touchdown to rookie WR Malachi Fields.
Dart is a game-changer on the field. He can do damage on the ground with his legs and still hurt defenses plenty through the air. Dart ranked 23rd in PFN’s QB Impact score in 2025.

The offense will be quite different in the 2026 season, with new head coach John Harbaugh bringing in a new offensive staff. Dart won’t have his top target, Wan’Dale Robinson, from his rookie season, as Robinson left for Tennessee in free agency, but he’ll have the dynamic Malik Nabers back from injury, and Cam Skattebo will be healthy, too.
If the Giants can keep Dart upright and prevent him from being in the blue tent, the Giants should have an entertaining offense in 2026. New York is hoping to see another step forward from Dart with the keys to the franchise now fully in his hands.
