Indiana Fever head coach Stephanie White has received backlash after her initial comments about DiJonai Carrington’s foul on Sophie Cunningham
After the Carrington foul on Cunningham, White seemed to defend it, saying ‘I don’t oppose the hard foul, and I also don’t think she intentionally went for the neck.’
She later expanded on her initial comments by claiming she did not see the foul, stating ‘For those who have anything to say about the play in the last game, I didn’t see the play in real time. I went straight to a press conference. I thought the play got called right’.
However, Jennifer Sey has now spoken out against White when speaking to NEWSMAX recently.

Sey said: “Look, we all saw Stephanie White defend the player on the opposing team when that player clotheslined Sophie Cunningham.
“Like, what kind of coach defends the player on the other team?”
On suggestions from White that she did not see the play, Sey added: “She [White] said she didn’t see it, which isn’t true. It’s obviously not true. But if you didn’t see it, why isn’t your default position to defend your own team? It’s ridiculous.
“The whole league is a joke, the commissioner is a joke.”
White and her team are now back in action on Friday when they face off with the Dallas Wings.
Given all the news around Cunningham right now, the Fever coach is probably hoping for a much less eventful game this time around.
