The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially announced their initial 53-man roster for the 2026 NFL season, showcasing a number of new players compared to last year’s lineup. This year's roster reflects strategic changes aimed at bolstering the team's performance as they prepare for the upcoming season.
One of the most notable changes is at the quarterback position, where Quinn Ewers has taken over as the backup to the starting quarterback. Last season, Nick Mullens held that role. The Jaguars have also seen a shift in their running back corps following the departure of Travis Etienne Jr. New additions Chris Rodriguez and Ameer Abdullah will now join the backfield, bringing fresh talent to the team.
The wide receiver unit has also expanded, with Jakobi Meyers now officially part of the initial roster. Meyers was acquired mid-season last year, making his presence felt in the latter part of the 2025 campaign. Alongside him, the Jaguars have welcomed two rookie wide receivers, CJ Williams and Josh Cameron, both of whom were drafted in the sixth round. Their inclusion adds depth and youthful energy to the receiving corps.
At tight end, the Jaguars have undergone a significant transformation. Last season, the team had three tight ends, but now only Brenton Strange remains from that group. The Jaguars have added three new tight ends: Nate Boerkircher, Tanner Koziel, and Quintin Morris. Boerkircher, selected in the second round of the recent draft, and Koziel, a fifth-round pick, are expected to make immediate impacts. Morris, who played in 14 games last season after starting on the practice squad, will also look to contribute more this year.
On the offensive line, the Jaguars have introduced two new players. Rookie Emmanuel Pregnon, a third-round pick, is anticipated to step in as the starting left guard, while Daniel Faalele, who previously played with the Baltimore Ravens, is expected to provide depth along the line.
Defensively, the Jaguars have not added new cornerbacks, but they have strengthened their safety position with the signings of Caleb Ransaw and Jalen Huskey. Ransaw, a third-round pick from the 2025 draft, spent last season on injured reserve, while Huskey was a third-round selection this year.
In the linebacker group, the Jaguars have opted to carry five players instead of the six they had the previous year. Newcomers Branson Combs and Jahlani Tavai will join the ranks. Combs, who began last season on the practice squad, was elevated to the active roster during the year, while Tavai brings a wealth of experience, having spent his first two seasons with the Detroit Lions and the last five with the New England Patriots.
The defensive line has seen the most significant influx of new talent, with five new players making the initial roster: Bryan Thomas Jr., Albert Regis, Wesley Williams, Ruke Orhorhoro, and Matt Dickerson. Thomas Jr. is the only undrafted rookie to secure a spot on the Jaguars' 53-man roster. Williams and Regis were drafted in the fourth and third rounds, respectively, while Orhorhoro was acquired via trade in April. Dickerson, who was elevated from the practice squad last season, rounds out this group.
