Jadarian Price will not play in Seahawks preseason opener vs Cowboys

The Seattle Seahawks are gearing up for their first action of the 2026 preseason. Seattle will host the Dallas Cowboys at Lumen Field on Saturday, August 15th at 5:00 pm. This will be the only home game the Seahawks have this preseason. While preseason games feature non-existent stakes, it's still great to see the first football since the Super Bowl.

However, not everyone will see the field on Saturday. One player in particular will be rookie running back Jadarian Price. Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed on Friday that Seattle's first round pick from the 2026 NFL draft will not play against the Cowboys. It looks like the 12th Man will have to wait at least a week before they get to see the Notre Dame standout take the field in a meaningful way.

This is hardly an unexpected development. Jadarian Price did walk through Friday's practice, but prior to that he has missed five of the last six practices with leg soreness. There is simply no reason to risk the health of Price for a preseason game... especially since he was specifically drafted to be the replacement for the MVP of Super Bowl LX: Kenneth Walker III.

Seattle will likely roll with a rotation featuring George Holani, Emanuel Wilson and Velus Jones for the preseason opener.
