Jamestown High School Soccer Team Aims for First Win Against Century

On September 1, the Jamestown High School soccer team will look to secure its first win of the season when they host Bismarck Century at 7:30 p.m. The Blue Jays, currently struggling in the Western Dakota Conference, hold a record of 0-3-2, placing them ninth in the standings.

Despite their winless record, the Blue Jays have shown potential in their matches. They opened the season with two ties against Minot, finishing 1-1 in their first game and 2-2 in their second against Minot North. However, their three losses have been narrow, with two of them decided by just a single goal. This close competition reflects the team’s ability to compete, even if the results have not yet favored them.

Senior player Grady Eckart expressed optimism about the team's performance, stating, "I feel like our season has been so much more than what our record shows. Every game that we’ve played has had moments where we’ve shown that we are capable of great things, but we are just needing to put them together and hold out for a whole game." Eckart emphasized that the season is still in its early stages, allowing players to find their roles and contribute effectively to the team.

As the Blue Jays prepare for their match against Century, the focus will be on building on the positive aspects of their gameplay and converting opportunities into goals. The upcoming game presents a crucial chance for Jamestown to turn their season around and gain momentum in the conference.

In addition to the soccer team's efforts, Jamestown's boys tennis team is also set to begin its conference schedule on the same day, traveling to Bismarck to face Bismarck Legacy at 4:15 p.m. This dual focus on both soccer and tennis highlights the active sports scene at Jamestown High School.

With five non-conference matches under their belt and an overall record of 0-5, the Blue Jays are eager to break the winless streak. A victory against Bismarck Century could be the turning point they need to build confidence and improve their standing in the Western Dakota Conference.
