LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One of the biggest names granted an extra year of eligibility who was available in the transfer portal, was Jaxon Kohler. Sought after by big name programs, the forward narrowed his list down to two school - UK and BYU.
Late Thursday night, the Utah native decided to stay home and head to BYU.
Kohler was granted to play a 5th year at the college level after spending the past four with Michigan State. The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 12.5 points, 8.9 rebounds while shooting 50% from the field in 2025.
Kohler only entered the picture for the Wildcats in terms of recruitment on Tuesday when he entered the portal. So where does this leave Kentucky? They'll still look at guys they were originally considering which includes Mark Mitchell and Keyshawn Hall.
Hall, a former Auburn Tiger, was already granted an extra year of eligibility and is still exploring his options to find right fit in a program.
As for Mitchell, the guy Pope would more likely go for, his 5th year of eligibility is still pending waiting on the courts approval.
With Kohler's decision, Pope and company are still insearch of its 15th man ahead of the season.
