Jaylen Brown said goodbye to his old fans of the Boston Celtics at a fan festival in Boston where he was honored by supporters.

Brown spent 10 dedicated seasons wearing Celtics green and was the star who won Finals MVP when it came to delivering them their first championship since 2008.

He was traded away and never had a chance to betray the fanbase, so he was given a hero’s goodbye at a recent fan festival which also had Mayor Jennifer Wu in attendance.

Jaylen Brown’s emotional message to Celtics fans

Brown took the stage at the 741 Frequency Fest in Boston and addressed the fans, sharing his love with them and thanking them for their support over the last decade.

“I —— love y’all man. Listen up, I ain’t got too much to say because I am at a loss for words… I love each and everyone one of y’all. I have been in this city for the last 10 years, and I said ‘I’m gonna go to war for this city’ when I got here… I just wanna say thank you to Boston. Thank you to the city. And I love you.”

Brown averaged 20.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.9 assists over his 10-year tenure with the Celtics. He was named to two All-NBA teams and five All-Star teams.

He played an integral role in their 2024 Championship win, securing the Eastern Conference and Finals MVP over Jayson Tatum.

He will now play for the rival 76ers who beat Brown and the Celtics in the 2026 Playoffs with a 3-1 series comeback. Brown joins LeBron James as their marquee offseason addition.

The State of Massachusetts also presented Brown with a key to the state, solidifying his status as one of the greats in a long list of iconic Boston-based athletes.

Celtics GM and Brown’s former coach Brad Stevens has already confirmed that Brown’s No. 7 jersey will eventually be retired by the franchise.

The former Celtics Finals MVP will now don their rivals’ colours, as these good feelings will pass when the season starts.

However, this is a fitting way for Boston to show their appreciation to a former Finals MVP that they traded away.
