As the NBA releases the full schedule for the coming 2026-27 NBA regular season, astute fans of the Boston Celtics may notice another sport entirely enjoying a prominent nod in the press release circulated by the storied ball club breaking down the regular season schedule from a Celtics point of view. And that likely has a lot to do with the affinity of star Boston forward Jayson Tatum's for golf, given the St. Louis native being a key part of that aforementioned nod.
"The Celtics will have the honor of inaugurating the NBA season by participating in the league's first game on Tuesday, October 20, at 3 p.m. ET, as they travel to Detroit for a prominent Eastern Conference matchup against the Pistons," notes the release.
"Boston will make its season debut at TD Garden on Friday, October 23, facing the New York Knicks, and it will also be showcased on Christmas Day for the 39th time in franchise history when it hosts the Miami Heat," it continues.
"The 'Celtics Perfect Putter Sweeps' presented by JetBlue, launched today at 12:00 p.m. and features a golf-inspired prize package including a Celtics branded putter, two (2) JetBlue round-trip flight certificates and other Celtics swag including a JetBlue x Celtics bag, hat, and towel," notes the release.
"Building on the campaign’s golf theme, the Celtics and JetBlue will welcome middle school students from Urban Golf Club to Five Iron Golf Seaport for a special community event this afternoon.
