João Pedro extends Chelsea contract

Chelsea have rewarded Joao Pedro for an impressive first season at the club by handing the Brazilian forward a new contract until 2034.

The 24-year-old joined the Blues from Brighton last summer and quickly established himself as a key figure in the attack. He made 50 appearances across all competitions during the 2025/26 campaign, scoring 20 goals and providing nine assists.

His new deal adds another year to his existing contract and is also understood to include improved terms, reflecting his growing importance to the side.

Pedro became Chelsea’s first striker to reach 20 goals in a season in almost a decade and has continued his excellent form during pre-season, scoring eight times.

With Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers providing support in attack, Pedro is expected to lead the line again this term and will be aiming to build on his breakthrough campaign.

Chelsea, who have no European football this season, begin their Premier League campaign against Fulham on Monday
