WILSON, N.C. (WNCT) -- The Little League Softball World Series champions from Johnston County received a hero's welcome at Wilson Warbirds Stadium.
The North Carolina team signed autographs for young fans before taking the field prior to tonight's baseball game. Their coach noted that the whirlwind week following their championship win less than seven days ago still feels surreal.
"Obviously they spent a lot of time together when out at the World Series, and I think they've kind of missed each other this week, so they're always excited when they get to see each other again," said Ben Catarozzoli.
The team defeated the team from Owensboro, Kentucky, 2-0, in the World Series Championship Game last Sunday at Stallings Stadium in Greenville.
