However, he was determined to make an impact, stating, "I wanted to help my father continue his legacy that he had here. It was coming back home for me." Johnson's father, James Man Johnson, had a storied history with the Rams, playing quarterback after serving as a waterboy for the team. His uncle, a linebacker known as "Gooch," also left a mark on the program.
Under the guidance of head coach Turmarian Moreland, who played alongside Johnson's uncle, Johnson has thrived in a run-and-shoot offense reminiscent of what he experienced at Hawaii. In just two games this season, he has thrown for an impressive 636 yards and 10 touchdowns, showcasing his skills and poise on the field. His standout performances included five touchdowns against both Seminole Ridge and Sarasota, leading the Rams to a 2-0 record.
Moreland expressed surprise at Johnson's rapid success, admitting he did not anticipate such a strong start. "I couldn’t tell you he’d throw 10 touchdowns in two games with more than 600 yards already. I wouldn’t have guessed that," he said. Johnson's ability to adapt quickly to the new system has been a significant factor in his success. Moreland praised his quarterback, noting, "It’s his poise. He’s seeing it with clear eyes and delivering the football, getting it to the guys on the outside. We throw a lot at Jordan, and he’s picking a lot of it up."
Despite the initial competition for the starting role, both of Johnson's fellow quarterbacks transferred out, leaving him as the sole signal caller. Johnson reflected on the situation, stating, "I never saw them. I’m sure they thought it was better for their careers. I felt the show was going to be mine from the start. It never crossed my mind." Now, with the Rams undefeated, Johnson is focused on leading his team to success as they prepare for a crucial game against Jupiter on September 3.
Johnson's confidence and leadership have been instrumental in rallying his teammates. Moreland noted that Johnson's self-assuredness helps galvanize the team, saying, "He’s very confident in himself. But he has the ability to galvanize the team with that confidence. He’s not a person who’s shy." As Johnson continues to excel, he remains grounded, crediting his father for instilling the work ethic and determination that drive him. "He’s very happy. He knows the job isn’t finished. He keeps reminding me the job isn’t finished and to take everything personal," Johnson said.

With the support of his teammates and the community, he aims to make this season memorable for Palm Beach Lakes High School. As he stated, "It’s a supportive brotherhood here. Everyone took me in with open arms. It’s nothing but support and love."
