Today, the Rojiblanco Nation remembers one of the greatest legends in Guadalajara history. On August 21, 1926, Juan Jasso was born. The midfielder went on to become a key figure of the legendary ‘Campeonísimo’ era and left an indelible mark on the club he loved.

To commemorate this special occasion, we look back at some of the moments that shaped ‘Bigotón’ Jasso’s career with Chivas and established him as one of the greatest figures in the club’s history.

1. The Perseverance That Made Him a Legend

Jasso was part of the Rojiblanco squad known as the ‘Ya Merito’, which came agonizingly close to winning the league title. However, beginning with the 1956-57 season, by then known as ‘Bigotón’ and having established himself as a leader of the Guadalajara side, he became a fundamental part of the backbone of the ‘Campeonísimo’.

He was a member of the Rojiblanco squad that won all seven of its league championships during that historic period.

2. More Than Two Decades of Loyalty

The midfielder dedicated 21 years of his life to Guadalajara, becoming one of the players with the longest careers in the club’s history. His more than two decades with the institution reflected the loyalty and unconditional commitment he always showed to the Rebaño Sagrado.

3. A Trophy Cabinet for the Ages

‘Bigotón’ won 15 official titles with Guadalajara: seven league championships, one Copa México, six Campeón de Campeones titles and one Concacaf championship.

His remarkable collection of trophies reflected his winning mentality and his passion for making Guadalajara the most important team in Mexico.

4. A Farewell Befitting His Legacy

Jasso’s brilliant career as a Chivas player came to an end on Matchday 14 of the 1966-67 season. On Sunday, October 23, 1966, he played his final match in a 3-0 victory over Ciudad Madero.

He left the pitch in fitting fashion, contributing to the scoreline with the second goal of the match, converting from the penalty spot in the 32nd minute.
