Kentucky Wildcats receiver dubbed a 2026 breakout candidate

The Kentucky Wildcats are going to have an interesting 2026 season.

Under the leadership of first-time head coach Will Stein, the program should be able to find immense success on the offensive side of the ball, where Stein thrived with the Oregon Ducks over the last few seasons. That's going to open opportunities for several talented players to step up, and both Kenny Minchey and DJ Miller are at the forefront of those chances.

Minchey was among the top transfer quarterbacks, coming from Notre Dame, while Miller is back at Kentucky for his second season. While Minchey didn't crack the list, Miller was named as one of ESPN's top sleeper candidates who could be primed for a breakout season.

"Miller is among the holdovers on offense from the previous coaching staff, and he has a chance to see his production grow under new boss Will Stein. Miller had at least one catch in six of his seven games as a true freshman last fall, and had a breakout performance against Tennessee with five receptions for 120 yards and two touchdowns, which tied the team single-game freshman record. Miller started three games against SEC opponents and had all but one of his receptions against conference foes," Adam Rittenberg wrote.

Miller is a 6-foot-3 receiver, who ended last season with 7 games played and 13 receptions. He did finish up his freshman campaign with 175 yards and 2 touchdowns to go alongside those catches. Those numbers should increase drastically as he steps into the spotlight under what should be a revamped offense.

While the Cats are going to face one of the most challenging schedules in college football, they should be able to stay competitive, especially if Miller explodes this season.
