Kimi Antonelli’s Spider-Man Video Leaves F1 Fans Begging Mercedes to “Please Delete”

Kimi Antonelli is having a very serious Formula 1 season. His social-media team, meanwhile, has chosen chaos.

A video posted during the 2026 Dutch Grand Prix weekend shows Mercedes’ Italian No. 12 driver in what appears to be team hospitality at Circuit Zandvoort.

Antonelli approaches the camera, puts his right palm against the low, grid-patterned ceiling, and fires his left hand outward like Spider-Man launching a web. The camera then rushes toward his face before he adds a smirk and a wink. It is a committed performance, but it may have fallen a tad flat with fans who were quick to play into the fun.

The audio comes from Miles Morales in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a trend following the release of the latest Spider-Man: BrandNew Day starring Tom Holland.

The post certainly received a strong reaction from fans, ranging from affectionate to deeply concerned. “pls delete ,” wrote Dani, while another user offered a tad more honestly: “i’m uncomfortable.” Another asked, “who made him do this,” while another fan pleaded, “why make my bro do this.”

Several comments were a bit more supportive. Formula 1’s account called him the “real spiderman,” while fans suggested “Spidermine,” “f1 peter parker,” “spidernelli ready for the race,” and “andrea parker.” One commenter argued that Antonelli looks like Holland himself.

There was also a strong demand for the Spidey suit. “okay but where is his spider suit come on,” Duck wrote. DIRECTV joined the conspiracy with, “we’ve never seen kimi and spiderman in the same room .” Another fan claimed Antonelli is “secretly from the Spider-Verse but I can’t prove it,” while someone else simply asked Mercedes to make George Russell do the same thing.

The video also attracted the usual combination of thirst, confusion, and race-fan impatience. Comments included “THE WINK MAMA MIÀ,” “Why did bro levitate for a sec,” and “bro just drive the car.” One viewer called him “Best American f1 driver oat,” despite Antonelli being from Bologna, Italy. The internet remains a dangerous place for geography.

Antonelli is not new to this particular bit. During the June 12 Barcelona-Catalunya weekend, he watched FP1 from the grandstands wearing a Spider-Man mask while Mercedes reserve driver Frederik Vesti drove his car.

Away from the ceiling-based superhero work, Antonelli leads the 2026 Drivers’ Championship with 219 points after 11 Grands Prix and four Sprints. He entered Zandvoort 50 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton, while Russell sat 59 points behind him after Sprint Qualifying.

The Italian led Friday practice at the Dutch round, but gravel on his first SQ1 run cost him valuable time in Sprint Qualifying. The Mercedes suffered damage underneath, and Antonelli later described the damage as, “Oh yeah, big time! I had a couple holes in the floor.” Mercedes put the aerodynamic loss at approximately 25 points of downforce.
