Kinley Ramsus sets LLWS record as Southeast win headlines the day

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, PA(WBRE/WYOU)— It was another multi-hit afternoon for the superstar of South Williamsport this Little League Word Series. Phenix, Alabama sensation Kinley Ramsus knocked two hits for the Southeast squad, driving one run in, as her team took down Tacoma, WA 4-2.

Ramsus is now 5-for-10 in the Little League World Series. The Southeast shortstop and pitcher already with a double, three RBI, and three runs scored. Her five hits are the most all-time by a girl in the Little League World Series.

Ramsus already made history on the mound in South Williamsport. She matched Mo'ne Davis' record for strikeouts in a game for a girl. She struck out eight in the team's first game of the LLWS, also against the Northwest Region winners. In 10.2 innings pitched so far in the LLWS, Ramsus has 14 strikeouts, not allowing a single run and just three hits.

The Southeast will now face the Great Lakes Region champions in the elimination bracket semifinals. The team from Hamilton, OH grabbed the win in the nightcap at Lamade Stadium on Tuesday.

The Great Lakes team scored five runs in the fourth inning against the boys from Bayonne, NJ. Xander Kinkade led the way with a two-run double in the inning. Jack McAdams, Bob Fraizer, and Walker Osborne all added an RBI of their own in the 5-2 win over Metro. Jett Bridges and Joey Dwyer each drove in a run for Metro in the losing efforts.

On the international side of the bracket, both the Japanese and Canadian teams advanced to continue play on Wednesday. Japan was a 3-1 winner in the opening game of the day over Mexico. The international underdogs from Vancouver continued its storied run in South Williamsport with a 5-1 win over Asia-Pacific.

The Little League World Series hits the diamond again on Wednesday for four games. The day begins with international play between Latin America and Curacao at 1:00pm. Canada and Japan will follow at Volunteer Stadium at 5:00pm.

Lamade Stadium will also host a doubleheader of action on Wednesday afternoon. The undefeated teams from the Mountain and the Mid-West will meet in the first game of the day at 3:00pm. Kinley Ramsus and her Southeast squad take on the Great Lakes at 7:00pm.
