However, recent insights from NBA insider Jake Fischer suggest that the Mavericks view Irving's value as too significant to entertain outside offers at this time.
Fischer noted, "I saw some stuff online that the Heat potentially had trade interest for Kyrie Irving. I don’t really see how that deal could make sense for Dallas’ side of things. The Mavericks have been swatting away interest for Kyrie Irving all offseason long." This indicates that while the Heat are exploring options to bolster their roster, particularly after acquiring two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, a trade for Irving may not be feasible.
The Mavericks had a disappointing 2025-26 season, failing to qualify for the playoffs despite the emergence of Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg. Nevertheless, the team is not in a full rebuild mode and has no immediate plans to trade Irving, especially after previously moving their star player Luka Doncic.
Irving's absence last season has not diminished his market value. He is still regarded as one of the league's premier scoring and playmaking guards. Fischer further elaborated, stating, "There’s definitely expectation that Kyrie is gonna come out and be potentially All-Star caliber yet again and really be a key contributor sidekick next to Cooper Flagg, where the Mavericks don’t control this year’s first-round pick and have every incentive to compete for a playoff position." This paints a picture of a player who, despite his injury history, remains integral to the Mavericks' plans.
Looking ahead, the possibility of a trade involving Irving may be revisited around the midseason trade deadline. Sean Deveney from Heavy reported that the Mavericks might consider playing Irving through January to build his value before assessing trade options.
