This loss marked the third consecutive week that the Golden Gales have been unable to secure a victory, leaving them with an unfortunate record of 0-3.
The game was a rollercoaster of emotions for Lancaster, who held a narrow lead of 10-9 midway through the fourth quarter. However, the Monarchs turned the tide with a long touchdown pass at 9:11 remaining, taking the lead and ultimately sealing the victory. Despite a determined effort from the Gales, they were unable to capitalize on a promising drive as time ran out on their hopes for a comeback.
Injuries have plagued the Lancaster squad, with star senior running back Jahmeir Gordon sidelined early in the first quarter due to an ankle injury. His absence was felt throughout the game, as the Gales struggled to maintain offensive momentum. Coach Jeremy McKinney acknowledged the pain of coming so close yet falling short, emphasizing the need for his team to remain resilient. "We have two options at this point," McKinney stated. "They understand how close they are, and that’s why this is as painful as it is. You can tuck your head, feel sorry for yourself, start pointing fingers, or you pull your pants up, tighten your belt, and go back to work, and you keep swinging. We have to keep swinging.
