Lando Norris, who claimed the Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship in 2025, is taking a significant step to nurture the next generation of racing talent by launching a junior racing team named LN4 Fusion. This initiative was unveiled during the week of the F1 Italian Grand Prix at the iconic Monza circuit and is designed to provide aspiring drivers with the support and opportunities necessary to reach the pinnacle of motorsport.
LN4 Fusion is set to debut in various junior racing categories next season, marking an exciting new chapter for Norris and his vision for driver development. The team will be managed by Rene Rosin, a highly regarded figure in the motorsport community and the former head of Prema, which has established itself as one of the most successful junior racing teams in history.
In conjunction with LN4 Fusion, Norris is also introducing the LN4 Legacy Programme, a fully funded driver development initiative aimed at providing talented young racers with the resources and opportunities they need to advance their careers. Norris emphasized the importance of having the right support system in place for young drivers, stating, “I’ve been really lucky to have some amazing people around me throughout my career, and I know that getting to Formula 1 takes so much more than just talent.”
Reflecting on his own journey, Norris joined the McLaren Young Driver Programme in 2017 before making his F1 debut with McLaren in 2019. He believes that both LN4 Fusion and the LN4 Legacy Programme will create an environment where young drivers can thrive and develop their skills. “That’s what these two projects are all about,” he explained. “LN4 Fusion is about building a race team that can compete with the best in junior motorsport, with great people and a great environment for drivers to develop.”
Next season, LN4 Fusion will participate in several prestigious competitions, including the Italian F4 Championship, the FIA Formula Regional European Championship, and the FIA Formula 3 Championship. There are also plans to secure a spot in the FIA Formula 2 Championship, although this application process is still underway.
At the helm of the LN4 Legacy Programme will be Julian Rouse, who previously served as the Sporting Director for Alpine F1. Rouse has shared insights into the complexities of team development, likening racing teams to hospitals in terms of their operational structure and collaboration. He noted that while different departments within a racing team work towards a common goal, they often operate independently on a day-to-day basis.
With Norris, Rouse, and a dedicated team, the aim is clear: to cultivate the future stars of motorsport. Dan Hazelwood, who will lead the Fusion Motorsport karting team, expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “What we have created is far more than simply the acquisition of a racing team. We have assembled a rare combination and secured the right sporting leadership in the industry: an established operation, a Formula 1 world champion, the most successful team principal in junior single-seater racing over the past two decades, world-class motorsport expertise, significant investment, and a shared ambition to build a team capable of competing at the highest levels of the sport.”
