Latest update gives new life to WR Kayshon Boutte trade rumors

With Jayden Higgins going down with a season-ending ACL injury, the Houston Texans are suddenly in the market for another receiver. Among the possibilities, according to KPRC 2's Aaron Wilson, are New England Patriots wideout Kayshon Boutte and Baltimore Ravens receiver Rashod Bateman.

The Patriots were reportedly willing to trade Boutte entering the 2026 NFL Draft, but one has to wonder if their feelings have changed with his continued success in training camp. Even with a crowded wide receiver room, the possibility of keeping a player as talented as Boutte on the roster would be an embarrassment of riches.

But then again, keeping him means the Patriots would have to consider keeping seven receivers on the final roster. Boutte, A.J. Brown, Romeo Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams and Efton Chism III have all made plays in training camp.

The #Texans have made exploratory trade calls, per league sources.

Among the potential targets: New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte and Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman.

Boutte is coming off a 2025 season that saw him record 33 catches for 551 yards and six touchdowns.

A larger role in the Texans' offense would give him a chance to surpass those numbers in the final year of his contract. Would it be wise for the Patriots to trade him to a potential playoff contender for a late-round draft pick? That is something the team would have to weigh heavily before a deal gets done.
