Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona faces major obstacle as Inter Milan make stance clear

Barcelona’s wait for Julian Alvarez is beginning to create a problem of its own. 

With the transfer window moving into its final weeks and negotiations still stuck, Deco has been forced to keep other options alive.

One of those options is Lautaro Martinez.

The Inter Milan captain would be open to the idea of joining Barcelona if the opportunity arose, and contact has already been made with his representatives. 

But while there may be room to discuss the player’s side of a potential move, MARCA makes it clear that Barcelona face a very different response from Inter.

The Italian club do not want to sell, declaring Lautaro non-transferable.

Right now, Julian Alvarez remains the leading name on Barcelona’s shortlist. The club’s sporting department has made the Argentine their priority, but the situation has barely moved forward.

Barcelona are waiting for Alvarez to take a step that could help unlock negotiations with Atletico Madrid, but that has not happened, leaving the transfer at a standstill.

Hence, with only around two weeks left before the transfer window closes, Barcelona cannot put all their plans on hold. 

If the Julian Alvarez operation does not move soon, the club will need to decide whether to continue waiting or turn their attention elsewhere.

That is why Barcelona’s search for a striker has not been limited to one name.

Deco has already started looking at alternatives, and Lautaro Martinez is among the players under consideration. 

Barcelona have spoken with the Inter forward’s representatives to understand whether he would be interested in a move to Camp Nou, and on that front, there appears to be little resistance.

While Barcelona have received the green light from the player’s side, Inter’s position is the biggest problem.

Lautaro is their captain, one of the most important players in the squad and a central figure in their sporting project. 

Which explained why the Italian club has no intention of parting ways with their star forward and has made him non-transferable.

That leaves the Lautaro Martinez transfer in a difficult position before any formal negotiations have even begun.

Barcelona may be able to establish contact with the player’s camp, but Inter have shown no willingness to discuss his departure. 

Whether that stance would change if a significant offer arrived is another matter, but at present, the message from Inter Milan is clear.
