Lazio Must Buy Frattesi From Inter Milan on Two Conditions

Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi is on the verge of joining Lazio on a season-long loan, but his permanent stay will hinge on several factors.

The 26-year-old has been playing his football at San Siro since making the €35 million move from Sassuolo in the summer of 2023. However, the Italian international struggled for playing time, especially last season under Cristian Chivu, finding himself behind Nicolo Barella, Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Petar Sucic in the pecking order.

Therefore, Lazio sensed the opportunity to bring the player back to his original club, and following swift negotiations, they managed to find an agreement with Inter, as well as the midfielder and his agent, Giuseppe Riso.

According to Sky Sport Italian correspondent Gianluca Di Marzio, Frattesi will join the Aquile on loan for €1 million, with an option to buy for €14 million. The Nerazzurri have also negotiated a 50% sell-on clause. Therefore, the Italian champions would collect half of the transfer fee should Lazio cash in on the player in the future.

Di Marzio also confirms that the option to buy will turn into an obligation under two stipulations that must both be met. The first is related to the player’s number of appearances during the 2026/27 season, although the source doesn’t disclose the exact threshold. The second condition is for Lazio to finish the campaign in the top half of the Serie A table (Top 10 spots).

If one of the two conditions isn’t met, Lazio won’t have the obligation to buy Frattesi, but they would still be able to activate their purchase option should they wish to keep him.
