ARGYLE, Texas (WJHL) — Elizabethton native Jason Witten and his family received a special honor from Liberty Christian School this week as the school officially renamed its football field "Witten Family Field."
The dedication recognizes the impact the Tennessee Sports Hall of Famer made during his time leading the Liberty Christian football program.
Witten took over as the Warriors' head coach following his retirement from the NFL and helped transform the program, capturing back-to-back state championships in 2023 and 2024.
The former Tennessee and Dallas Cowboys tight end stepped away from Liberty Christian after his successful run in Argyle, Texas, to return to the college football ranks.
Witten joined Oklahoma's coaching staff ahead of the 2026 season as the Sooners' tight ends coach, bringing the VFL back to the SEC.
