The Detroit Lions should have one of the best offenses in the NFL, even with a new offensive coordinator and some changes along the offensive line.

Jared Goff is still a solid starting quarterback in the NFL, Jahmyr Gibbs is as good as they come at the running back position, and the receivers for Goff are strong. But a new report revealed that one of the key receivers for Goff is banged up.

According to Colton Pouncy of The Athletic, Dan Campbell revealed to reporters that tight end Sam LaPorta is dealing with a hip injury, and while not overly serious, there is a chance it lingers into the regular season.

"Dan Campbell says Sam LaPorta is dealing with a hip injury," Pouncy reports. "Feels good about him long-term, but the Lions will rest him for now. Doesn't know if it'll linger into the regular season."

While this update isn't a very concerning one for LaPorta, as the indication is that he'll be okay, it's still a bit worrying that this hip issue could linger into the regular season.

Campbell revealed this injury for LaPorta on August 20, and their first game of the season is on September 13 against the New Orleans Saints. He will have a little under a month to move on from this hip problem.

The 25-year-old tight end in his fourth NFL season is likely to be a big part of the passing attack this year, but he's now dealing with a hip issue that could last into the regular season.

But the lack of concern from Campbell is a good sign, as LaPorta, while maybe not 100% in Week 1, could still suit up and be good to go.

After catching 40 of 49 passes last season for 489 yards and three touchdowns, LaPorta is looking for a bounce-back season in 2026.

As long as he's healthy, this could be a big season for the veteran tight end. But now the Lions are going to have to monitor his hip, as it's a long season, and rushing him back would do them no good.
