On Wednesday, Jim Harbaugh had notable praise for rookie Jake Slaughter when asked about how the left guard competition was shaping up. While not specifically asked about Slaughter, Harbaugh made sure to let reporters know that Slaughter “had a good weekend.”
“Right up to the minute right now, really like the tape from the weekend,” said Harbaugh. “His confidence, like he’s getting it. That’s super encouraging.”
Around 15 starters will not play against the Texans on Thursday, but Slaughter is not one of them. The team’s second-round pick will hit the field and more than likely play both left guard and center.
