The Louisville Cardinals have bolstered their roster by acquiring former North Carolina Tar Heels guard Seth Trimble through the transfer portal, as reported by ESPN's Pete Thamel. This strategic move adds depth and experience to Louisville's lineup, which is shaping up to be competitive in the upcoming season.

Trimble's decision to enter the transfer portal came after he had exhausted his eligibility following the 2025-26 season. However, a recent ruling from a District Court in Colorado has granted athletes from the 2022 high school class an additional year of eligibility, allowing Trimble to potentially play another season. The NCAA is currently contesting this decision, but if upheld, it would provide Louisville with a seasoned player who has proven his capabilities on the court.

During his four-year tenure with the Tar Heels, Trimble participated in 126 games, starting in 45 of them. Initially a rotational player, he made a significant impact as a junior, starting in 42 of the 58 games he played over the last two seasons, including all 24 games in the most recent season. His consistent improvement has been evident, culminating in a career-best season where he averaged 14.0 points, 3.0 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

In addition to his scoring, Trimble showcased his shooting prowess last season, achieving a career-high shooting percentage of 47.1% from the field. He also recorded a shooting percentage of 28.6% from beyond the arc and 66.7% from the free-throw line, indicating his all-around offensive capabilities.

Head coach Pat Kelsey has been active in the transfer market, assembling one of the most impressive classes this offseason. Alongside Trimble, Louisville has added several key players, including point guard Jackson Sheistad, center Flory Bidunga, forwards Karter Know and Alvaro Folgueiras, and shooting guard De'Shayne Montgomery. This influx of talent positions the Cardinals as a formidable contender in the college basketball landscape.

As the Cardinals prepare for the upcoming season, the addition of Seth Trimble not only enhances their roster but also signals their intent to compete at a high level. With a blend of experienced transfers and returning talent, Louisville is aiming to make a significant impact in the competitive landscape of college basketball.
