The Louisville Cardinals have made another big addition through the transfer portal, landing former North Carolina Tar Heels guard Seth Trimble, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Trimble was out of eligibility following the 2025-26 season, but entered the transfer portal anyway. That decision paid off when a District Court judge in Colorado issued a preliminary injunction granting athletes from the 2022 high school class an additional year of eligibility. The NCAA is fighting the decision, but he gives them another proven veteran if able to play.
He spent four years with the Tar Heels, playing in 126 games and starting 45. After serving as a rotational player his first two years, he cracked the starting lineup as a junior and never looked back, starting 42 of the 58 games he played in over the past two seasons, including all 24 last year.
Trimble's production has improved every year, with him setting a career-high in points (14.0), assists (3.0), and steals (1.4) last season. He also had the best shooting season of his career, making 47.1% of his shots from the floor, 28.6% from 3-point range, and 66.7% from the free-throw line.
Louisville head coach Pat Kelsey has assembled one of the best transfer classes this offseason. In addition to Trimble, they added point guard Jackson Sheistad, center Flory Bidunga, forwards Karter Know and Alvaro Folgueiras, and shooting guard De'Shayne Montgomery.
