Louisville women's basketball adds former LSU forward Amiya Joyner

Former LSU women's basketball player Amiya Joyner has committed to Louisville.

The 6-foot-2 forward averaged 9.2 points and 7.5 rebounds last season with the Tigers. Joyner spent her first three seasons at East Carolina.

The Farmville, North Carolina, native had exhausted her eligibility, but a July 31 ruling in Colorado by Judge Charlotte Sweeney of the U.S. District Court granted a class-wide preliminary injunction, requiring the NCAA to declare all high school athletes from the Class of 2022 eligible. While the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit granted the NCAA's request to stay the injunction Aug. 21, a slew of separate lawsuits at the state level have given athletes more favorable rulings.

Joyner entered the transfer portal Aug. 20 after joining a Louisiana lawsuit Aug 19. A temporary restraining order has been granted and a final hearing will take place on Sept. 4. Joyner is currently eligible for the 2026-27 season, her agent William Clay confirmed to The Courier Journal.
