LSU football struggled with depth and stability on the offensive line last year, a major reason for its lackluster 2025 showing. Head coach Lane Kiffin brought in offensive line coach Eric Wolford and run-game specialist James Cregg, saying he "can't imagine there's a better pair in the country." The pair was instrumental in signing Jordan Seaton, the portal's top-ranked offensive lineman, and retaining last year's starters.
Wolford comes from Kentucky, where he coached the offensive line for two seasons. Cregg coached with Kiffin at Ole Miss last year and will begin his second stint in Baton Rouge. He coached the offensive line from 2018-20 under Ed Orgeron and helped the Tigers win the 2019 national championship.
"You get two big-time SEC line coaches together here, and one with great history, obviously, of the program here and the national championship and the Joe Moore Award and both have coached in the NFL, so we're very fortunate to have that," Kiffin said. "It's really easy to recruit, too, and they're really good technique coaches."
Wolford and Cregg bring 10 years of combined NFL coaching experience. Both built reputations as excellent recruiters and developers of NFL-ready players. This will be Kiffin's first time working with Wolford but the pair share a similarity in that they both worked under Nick Saban at Alabama. Wolford coached offensive line there for two seasons.
"I had always heard good things about him," Kiffin said. "Coach Saban called about him, you know, really raved about him when he had him, and then we brought him in, and he did a great job."
