Mark Few's sustained success at Gonzaga has landed him a spot in the Basketball Hall of Fame, and the acclaimed coach looked back on the program's trajectory during his two decade-plus run with the school.
Few noted the perception Gonzaga had when they played the role of Cinderella at the turn of the century, to what they've become currently.
"The group that went to the Elite 8 had no expectations," Few said, referring to his teams from the 2000 season. "You know, we had none, zero, zilch."
Few talked about the returning core of players and how that changed things for Gonzaga.
"Then there were some expectations and that program had never had expectations...trust me, that's a lot harder than the you know, fun and run and guns year before where we were just kind of footloose and fancy-free," Few said.
Eventually, Few said that Gonzaga's internal expectations became higher than the ones outside of the program once they experienced that initial success.
Few has a career 773-156 record with the Bulldogs.
