Mason Greenwood, the former Manchester United forward, finds himself in yet another controversy after being involved in a brawl during a Champions League qualifier. The incident occurred during Fenerbahce's 2-1 victory over Lyon, a match that saw tensions flare at the final whistle, leading to a chaotic scene on the pitch.

Greenwood, who has had a tumultuous career since leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2024, was part of the heated exchange that erupted after the match. The altercation was reportedly sparked by Matteo Guendouzi, a former Arsenal midfielder, who was playing for Lyon. As the situation escalated, it was reported that Greenwood was seen grabbing his crotch and making a face towards the home fans, actions that contributed to the ensuing chaos.

As a result of his involvement in this incident, Greenwood has received a one-game suspended ban and a fine of €30,000 (approximately £26,000) for breaching the basic rules of decent conduct. This latest disciplinary action adds to a series of off-field issues that have plagued the young striker's career since he made his debut for Manchester United.

Greenwood's rise through the ranks at Manchester United was meteoric. He made a significant impact in his early years, showcasing his speed, two-footedness, and goal-scoring ability. During his time with the Red Devils, he scored 35 goals and provided 12 assists in 129 appearances. However, his promising career was derailed in January 2022 due to serious off-field controversies.

After a loan spell at Getafe, where he performed reasonably well, Greenwood was sold to Marseille. He quickly made a name for himself in Ligue 1, finishing as the league's top scorer in his debut season with 22 goals and six assists in 36 matches, helping his team secure a second-place finish behind Paris Saint-Germain. His performance continued to impress, as he scored 26 goals and assisted 11 times in 45 appearances during the following season.

Following his successful stint in France, Greenwood attracted interest from multiple clubs, ultimately signing with Fenerbahce. The deal reportedly earned Manchester United around £10-11 million due to a sell-on clause included in his contract. Since joining the Turkish club, Greenwood has started strong, netting four goals and providing two assists in just nine games.

However, this latest incident raises questions about his conduct and whether he can maintain his focus on the pitch. The controversies surrounding Greenwood suggest that Manchester United's decision to part ways with him was indeed justified, as the club continues to distance itself from his troubled past. As Fenerbahce looks to build on their recent successes, Greenwood's ability to stay out of trouble will be crucial for his future and the team's aspirations in the Champions League and domestic competitions.
