Michael Carrick Prepares for Challenging Match Against Everton

As Manchester United gears up for their upcoming match against Everton, head coach Michael Carrick is bracing for a challenging encounter, emphasizing that facing Everton is always a tough test, regardless of their current situation. The match is set to take place on Sunday, and Carrick's comments come in light of Everton's recent transfer market disappointments.

Both Manchester United and Everton faced criticism for their inactivity in the transfer window, but United appears to have a more robust squad, a situation that Everton manager David Moyes would envy given the circumstances his team is currently navigating. Everton's transfer dealings have been tumultuous, highlighted by the sale of Iliman Ndiaye to Manchester City, while Beto's move to Fiorentina and a failed attempt to secure Monaco striker Folarin Balogun left the club with only one recognized striker.

Moyes expressed his frustrations, stating that he must "live with disappointments" as his team prepares to face a formidable United side. Carrick reflected on his experiences at Goodison Park, noting that every visit has been challenging. He recalled the difficulty of past encounters, including last season's match, where United had to exert significant effort to secure a victory.

"Whatever position they’re in, wherever they are in the league, historically whenever I’ve gone there it’s been tough, whatever state they’re in," Carrick remarked. He acknowledged Moyes's capabilities as a manager and recognized the talent within Everton's squad, which still boasts several skilled attacking players. Carrick is fully aware that his team must be prepared for a hard-fought match.

In their previous encounter at Hill Dickinson Stadium in February, Carrick's side managed a narrow 1-0 victory, thanks to a brilliant goal from Benjamin Sesko. The 23-year-old striker, however, has faced challenges this season, having been limited to just two substitute appearances due to a shin injury sustained last May. Carrick provided an update on Sesko's progress, indicating that the young forward is steadily improving his fitness.

"Ben is improving, he’s improving his fitness all the time," Carrick stated. He emphasized the importance of allowing Sesko the necessary time to recover properly to avoid any setbacks. Carrick expressed optimism about Sesko's development, noting that he is still young and adapting to the demands of the season.

"There’s loads more to come from Ben," Carrick added, highlighting the importance of patience and care in nurturing the player's growth. As the match against Everton approaches, Carrick's focus remains on ensuring his team is ready to face the challenges that lie ahead, particularly against a historically tough opponent.
