Michigan State men’s soccer tops Seattle 2-1

EAST LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State men's soccer team took down Seattle University on Sunday 2-1. The Spartans' first goal came off a penalty kick from Miles Merritt. The second goal came from senior Andrew Darakdijan.

This was Darakdijan's first game back after missing last season due to an ACL injury.

"To see him score that goal was great," said MSU head coach Damon Rensing. "Man what a goal, what a setup. Great little combination. {It] started with Grek, the goalkeeper, playing it out, we reversed the ball and then Brandon and Leo had a great little combination. Andrew does what he does and gets to the near post, so very proud of him."

Darakdijan hadn't played in a game in nearly a year and a half.

"It's amazing, it's such a blessing to be back," said Andrew Darakdijan. "I love this group and they've been by my group every step of the way. I'm happy i could do it for the game winning goal and just for the team."

Rensing also added that the team was focused on "winning the weekend." The Spartans took down UAlbany on Thursday night 6-2.

"I like our resiliency," Rensing said. "I think the team belief is very good right now, so very happy and proud of the guys."
