The Minnesota Vikings have traded backup offensive tackle Walter Rouse to the New England Patriots ahead of Sunday’s roster deadline.
The Vikings have agreed a draft pick swap with New England as part of the trade, receiving a Patriots 6th-round pick in 2026 in exchange for Rouse and a 2027 7th-round pick.
Rouse had been informed that he was going to be waived ahead of the 5 p.m. roster cut deadline, with New England deciding on a trade to ensure they get their man before he was cut.
Rouse was a 6th-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and has made eight appearances over the past two seasons, none of them as a starter.
He is a right guard on the Vikings’ depth chart but can also play tackle.
