VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO) --- South Dakota football charged past Central Connecticut State, 59-20 on Saturday in the DakotaDome.
The Coyotes have a quarterback on their hands, and a good one at that. Redshirt freshman Austyn Modrzewksi posted 304 passing yards and six touchdown passes in his first ever collegiate start. Those touchdown passes tie the USD single-game record for touchdown passes. The last time a Coyote threw six touchdowns in a game was Wesley Beschorner in 2005.
"I felt pretty comfortable from relatively pretty early in the game," Modrzewski said. "When you have the guys like we do around me, they make it easy to feel comfortable. They always, I know they got my back and everything."
Modrzewski and the Coyotes head to Northern Colorado for week two on Saturday.
