MotoGP 2027 grid: All confirmed rider signings

The dawn of a new era in MotoGP next year, with the introduction of the championship's new technical regulations for manufacturers committing to remain in the series through the end of 2031, will trigger the biggest shake-up to the premier-class grid in many years.

Many of the changes had been emerging gradually since the start of the season, but following the signing of the Concorde Agreement, a wave of official announcements has followed.

With two just rider announcements still outstanding, the entire grid is now practically settled, with the only major question being where Honda’s two young talents, David Alonso and Diogo Moreira, will race. Both are in contention for a seat at the factory team.

Below is how the 2027 MotoGP rider and team line-up is shaping up, including which deals have already been made official. Confirmed riders are shown in bold, while unconfirmed riders are shown in italics.

The manufacturers’ announcements began to arrive in late June. As previously reported by Motorsport.com, the first major move was Marc Marquez’s two-year contract extension with Ducati, which was made official on 23 June. Ducati subsequently announced Francesco Bagnaia’s departure, before confirming the signing of Pedro Acosta two hours later.

Aprilia, which had already moved early by renewing Marco Bezzecchi at the start of February, announced the signing of Bagnaia a day later, on the Thursday of the Dutch GP, to secure an all-Italian line-up.

Yamaha announced its factory line-up for 2027 on Wednesday 1 July, with Jorge Martin and Ai Ogura – who had won at Assen three days earlier – after revealing the departures of Fabio Quartararo and Alex Rins the previous day.

KTM was in no particular rush to make its signings public, but on Monday 6 July it confirmed the arrival of Alex Marquez, before doing the same with Fabio Di Giannantonio after VR46 announced the Italian’s departure.

Honda was next to make its move. On 21 July, during MotoGP’s summer break, it first announced the signing of Moto2 rider David Alonso on a multi-year contract, although it did not confirm whether the Colombian would race for the factory team or LCR.

Honda is expected to choose between Alonso and Moreira for the factory seat, with a decision likely to come later in the season. 

Alonso was not Honda’s only major signing that day, as the Japanese manufacturer also announced one of the biggest moves of the rider market: Fabio Quartararo will lead HRC’s project for the next two seasons.

The independent teams have also begun to reveal their plans. Gresini was the first satellite squad to confirm its 2027 line-up.

Nadia Padovani’s team announced on Thursday 2 July that Joan Mir, who will have a factory-specification bike, and Dani Holgado, who will graduate from Moto2, will form its 2027 rider pairing. Gresini also confirmed a multi-year extension of its partnership with Ducati.

At LCR Honda, if Moreira moves up to the factory HRC team, Alonso is expected to take his place. Johann Zarco, meanwhile, has a guaranteed contract for 2027 and will return to action in Aragon following his lengthy injury absence.

Pramac Yamaha has already finalised its line-up for next season. Toprak Razgatlioglu, who is under contract, will be joined by another Moto2 rookie in Izan Guevara, whose promotion was confirmed at the Aragon GP.

Trackhouse, having lost Ogura, has renewed Raul Fernandez and announced Enea Bastianini as his team-mate for the next two seasons.

Tech3 has confirmed Luca Marini, with its second rider yet to be officially announced. All signs point to Moto2 rider Senna Agius making the step up.

VR46 announced Fermín Aldeguer on 26 August, while his team-mate is expected to be Nicolo Bulega, Ducati’s preferred choice to make the move from World Superbike.

With as many as four riders potentially graduating from Moto2 – Alonso, Holgado, Guevara and Agius, a number of established premier-class riders with years of experience and multiple wins will be forced off the MotoGP grid after 2026.

That list includes Alex Rins, Franco Morbidelli, Jack Miller, Brad Binder and Maverick Viñales.

Morbidelli’s main option appears to be a move to World Superbike, while Binder, Miller and Rins are also understood to be open to continuing their careers in the series.

So far, the only riders to have categorically ruled out a move to World Superbike are Maverick Vinales and Luca Marini.
