Mount Simon Park hosts third annual disc golf tournament

EAU CLAIRE, Wis., (WLAX, WEUX) - Mount Simon Park hosted its third annual MVP Disc Golf Tournament.

You don't have to be a pro to be in this tournament.

"Everybody here has come as a casual player. They pay an entry fee. They get a few Frisbees. They get to meet some new people and have a good time with friends and family."

And for Brandon, the park is perfect for newcomers

"I found disc golf in this community over 20 years ago, at this course actually and it's changed my life and I think it could change a lot of lives."

Brandon says the sport is meant for anyone.

"The barrier to entry to Frisbee golf is so low. It's like 10 bucks. So, the clothes you're wearing, plus a frisbee, you can probably get one for free from just anybody on the course. And you're in."

"We just built two new nine-hole courses in town. So, now, from city center, within 45 minutes, there's about 24 courses. So, if you haven't seen a disc golf course, there's probably one right next to you and you don't know about it."

Brandon says he hopes to see the sport grow in the Chippewa Valley
