Munich is again bidding to host the men's Champions League final and wants to stage European club football's showpiece match as early as 2028, the city council said on Wednesday.
Munich last hosted the Champions League final in 2025 when Paris Saint-Germain beat Inter Milan 5-0.
Munich had shown last year that it could host major sporting events at the highest international level, Mayor Dominik Krause said in a statement.
The Champions League final - the most watched annual sporting event in the world - has been held five times at Bayern Munich's home ground, but there has not yet been a triumph there for Germany's biggest team.
The dramatic final in 2012 at the Allianz Arena, when Bayern lost to Chelsea on penalties, remains particularly painful for fans.
At Munich's old Olympic Stadium, rivals Borussia Dortmund celebrated the biggest success in the club's history in 1997 against Juventus.
Olympique Marseille also became the first winners of the newly founded Champions League in 1993 in Munich and before that, Nottingham Forest won the European Cup in the Bavarian capital in 1979.
This season, the Champions League final will be held at the Estadio Metropolitano, the home ground of Atlético Madrid.
