Xabi Alonso is at Stamford Bridge. Serie A giants Napoli are making a concerted push to sign Marc Guiu, tabling a €16 million bid for the Chelsea striker, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
Guiu has emerged as Napoli’s top target to replace Romelu Lukaku, who recently joined Fenerbahce.
While Napoli are offering €16m, Chelsea reportedly value Guiu at closer to €29m. The Blues signed the striker from Barcelona’s La Masia in 2024 for €6m, meaning even a deal near Napoli’s bid would represent a significant profit.
The 20-year-old was initially loaned to Chelsea last summer, but was recalled early after Liam Delap’s injury.
However, Guiu struggled for regular minutes and made just one league start throughout the campaign.
With Danny Welbeck and Emmanuel Emegha joining this summer, and Chelsea not competing in Europe, Guiu’s route to regular football at Stamford Bridge looks increasingly blocked, making a switch to Serie A all the more appealing.
Napoli have opened talks with Guiu’s camp as they look to bring the Spaniard to Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, where he would serve as back-up to Rasmus Hojlund.
For Napoli, bridging the gap between their €16m offer and Chelsea’s valuation is the key obstacle with the window closing soon.
If Chelsea are willing to compromise on the fee – perhaps through add-ons or a future sell-on clause – negotiations could progress quickly to bring the former Barcelona prodigy to Serie A.
Napoli were earlier interested in Jackson, but Chelsea’s price tag proved too prohibitive.
If Guiu completes the move from West London to Naples, he would become the second Chelsea player to join Napoli this summer, after Benoit Badiashile.
