Nashville SC is bolstering its defensive lineup as they gear up for a strong finish in the race for the MLS Supporters' Shield. The club has officially announced the acquisition of wing back Owen Presthus on loan from Columbus Crew, a move that underscores their commitment to strengthening the squad ahead of the crucial final stretch of the season.

The loan agreement will see Presthus join Nashville SC until the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season, which runs from February to May. As part of the deal, Nashville will compensate Columbus Crew with $50,000 in General Allocation Money, with the potential for an additional $50,000 contingent upon the fulfillment of specific performance-based criteria.

Importantly, Nashville SC has secured the option to make Presthus's transfer permanent at the conclusion of his loan period, a strategy that reflects their long-term vision for team development.

General Manager Mike Jacobs expressed enthusiasm about the new signing, stating, "Owen is a talented young player that we believe fits really well with what our group embodies on and off the field. His versatility to be able to play on both the left and the right, as well as in defense and in midfield, along with his extensive experience already as both a professional and youth international, puts him in position to be a key contributor in our group as we continue to grow and build for the future." This sentiment highlights the club's focus on integrating players who can adapt to various roles and contribute to the team's overall success.

Presthus, who is just 20 years old, has made three appearances for the Columbus Crew this season, with two of those coming in the U.S. Open Cup. Additionally, he has showcased his talent at the MLS Next Pro level, where he has recorded three goals and an assist in nine appearances while primarily playing as a right wing back. His experience is further complemented by his involvement with the U20 U.S. national team, where he has made three appearances and provided two assists, indicating his potential on the international stage.

The signing of Owen Presthus comes at a pivotal moment for Nashville SC, as they aim to secure their position at the top of the league and contend for the coveted MLS Supporters' Shield. With the season drawing to a close, every addition to the squad can have a significant impact on their championship aspirations. The club's strategic moves in the transfer market demonstrate their ambition and readiness to compete at the highest level.
