NCAA’s Latest Membership Missive
The NCAA sent this letter to its member institutions Tuesday. [emphasis added]
Colleagues,
The Tenth Circuit has ordered expedited briefing on our request for a stay pending appeal. The deadline for the class members to file a response to the emergency motion is Friday, August 14. The NCAA’s reply brief must be filed no later than Monday, August 17. In the meantime, the Wisne [aka Colorado] injunction remains in effect.
The Division 1 Cabinet, including its student-athlete members, carefully considered whether to make the age-based eligibility rule apply retroactively, and decided that doing so would not be in the best interests of all current and future college athletes. We stand behind and will continue to fully defend the membership’s decision. The injunction should never have been granted, and we have asked the Tenth Circuit to permanently reverse it.

The NCAA legal team went back to the D1 Cabinet and said, “Okay, are we going to keep on fighting this thing, or do you want to bail? “The D1 Cabinet said, “Well, are you finally going to win one?” The legal team, who’s had their eye on a new, red Ferrari lately said, “Why of course. It’s in the bag.”

- Dug McDaniel – 5’11” Point Guard, Memphis – played 4 seasons P4 ball
